Join us this Saturday and every fourth Saturday of the month for always fun Downtown Car Cruise-In. Hundreds of cars of classics to just cool line the streets of the historic downtown River District while chilling out to cool sounds from the DJ. The event is free and open to the public as well as to show vehicles. If brining a vehicle to show, please enter at First and Monroe Streets.
Event begins at 4:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm.
Every Memorial Day the Edison & Ford Winter Estates honors veterans and their families with free admission from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., which includes a self-guided audio tour. Veterans and their families will enjoy an audio tour of the winter homes and gardens of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, the botanical laboratory, antique car collections and hundreds of inventions in the Edison Ford Museum.
Veterans must present a VA identification card or their DD214 papers to receive free admission. Current servicemen and women may also gain free admission by presenting an active military ID
The City of Fort Myers hosts a Memorial Day “Tribute to America’s Heroes” on Sunday, May 24th beginning at 9:00 am in Centennial Park.
Event will include: Riffle Salute, Flyover, Wreath Laying on the River, Guests Speakers, and Music

The event this year begins with a block party starting at 12 noon, and full schedule of events throughout the rest of the day, culminating in the amazing riverside fireworks show!

The 7th Annual “Art in the Gardens” returns to Edison Ford April 12 – May 15 in the Heritage Garden, to honor the teachers and their students who created the artwork. More than 20 Lee County Schools will have their artwork on display for visitors to enjoy. Edison Ford invites student groups each year to participate in the annual event, in collaboration with the Lee Art Educator’s Association.
Schools scheduled to participate: Bayshore Elementary, Challenger Middle, Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts, Cypress Lake Middle, Edison Park Creative and Expressive Arts School, Fort Myers High, Lehigh Senior High, Mariner High, Mirror Lakes Elementary, Pine Island Elementary, Rayma C. Page Elementary, St. Andrew Catholic School, St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, Tice Elementary, Tortuga Preserve Elementary, Trafalgar Elementary, Trafalgar Middle, Varsity Lakes Middle, Veterans Park Academy for the Arts.

The first Sunday of every month the Butterfly Estates’ Non Profit Organization, The Florida Native Butterfly Society, opens its doors to the public with free admission. The purpose is to expose as many people as possible to the importance of Florida’s incredible butterflies. The program is intended to inspire guests to plant butterfly gardens to support and increase natural populations. Enjoy many new vendors every month, kids projects and activities. As season begins it’s a good time to review the recently implemented Passport Parking program throughout core downtown at all meters.
Guests to downtown who park at meters can download the Passport Parking app or can call 239-790-4675 to register. With this users can pay for parking with their phone or call from the numbered meter and pay via credit card.
Text messages and alerts can be enabled through this app, receipts sent, and guests will be able to extend their metered time from their phone.
Informational rack cards are available at the CRA (1400 Jackson Street) or at Denison Parking (2123 First Street).
Seasonally updated River District Maps are now available! Map includes general area and merchant locations with contact information. Printed maps are available throughout River District establishments, or from the Community Redevelopment Agency at 1400 Jackson Street.

The 2015 Art Walk series comes with new exhibits and excitement throughout the galleries and River District! The collector image featuring the art of Unit A’s Marcus Jansen is also available.
Look for the Fort Myers Art Walk information table, where you can sign up as a Fort Myers Art Walk Patron and receive the 2015 Art Walk Collector’s button, poster or tee shirt.
